The Kistefos Museum

Kistefos AS is the main sponsor of the Kistefos Museum and Sculpture Park.

The Kistefos Museum and Sculpture Park was founded in 1996 upon the initiative of Mr. Sveaas. It occupies the site of the old wood-pulp mill which was founded by Consul Anders Sveaas in 1889 and run by the family until it was closed in 1955. The old factory now houses an industrial museum which hosts annual, shifting art exhibitions in addition to the sculpture park which focus is sight specific and international contemporary works of art. Despite its recent foundation, the museum has already built a strong reputation in Norway and abroad.

As the only surviving pulp mill of formerly 300 in Norway, the museum is unique and a cultural heritage worth international attention.

The park has sculptures by artists such as Anish Kapoor, Tony Cragg, Olafur Eliasson, Marc Quinn, John Gerrard, Elmgreen & Dragseth, Claes Oldenburg & Coosje van Bruggen amongst others.
