Trans Viking Icebreaking & Offshore has been awarded a contract by StatoilHydro for carrying out stratigraphic core drilling North-East of Greenland. The nominated vessel is 'Vidar Viking'. The vessel will be equipped with a drilling derrick and the moon pool will be opened up.
The area North-East of Greenland is believed to be an area with harsh weather and ice conditions. The ice management will carried out together with the Swedish icebreaker 'Oden' including helicopter for ice surveillance. The period will be about 6-8 weeks with 4 weeks planned drilling operations off Greenland. The work scope also includes sea bed surveying with mutlibeam scanner and other research work
